From the moment we take on a case, we lift the burden from the client, allowing him or her to focus on healing and recovery without worrying about the spectrum of legal and financial issues involving your case. While preparing for trial or settlement negotiations, we are at the same time dealing with insurance companies and adjusters, creditors, the DMV, handling property issues, gathering relevant evidence, and securing specialists who can definitively identify the cause of the accident and the extent of the damages that resulted.
It is of the upmost Importance that you follow the Checklist below, to secure your best Chance for Justice and Compensation:
  • Seek immediate medical attention. Florida statute states that you have to see a doctor within 14 days of an accident.
  • Contact and retain a personal injury lawyer as soon as possible.
  • Do not give anyone from an insurance company written or taped statements. (have them contact your attorney)
  • Write a detailed summary of what happened to cause your injury (only give this to your attorney).
  • Have your doctor write notes for all time needed to take off of work due to your accident related injuries (even if you are self-employed).
  • Retain all physical evidence involved in the case.
  • Get the names, telephone numbers and addresses of witnesses (including those involved in the incident).
  • Take digital photographs: This includes injuries suffered, property damage, and the cause or scene of the incident.
  • Have your employer document any lost wages.
  • Do not sign any releases or medical authorizations without your attorney’s approval.
  • Give your doctors detailed and accurate information regarding your injuries.
  • Do not allow large gaps of time between medical appointments because insurance companies will try to argue that you were medically stationary and any treatment after the gap is not reasonably related to your case.
